USAGE OF FLASH CARDS IN CHILDREN

A flash card is a card bearing information as word, numbers or pictures either on both sides. It is use in class rooms or in private study. Flash cards are widely used as a learning drill to aid memorisation. Flash cards depict the pictures which are seen in daily life. We use flash cards to children when it is not possible to show real objects. In one to one situations, especially when the child is seated on a chair it is easier for the therapist to use flashcards rather than real objects. Usage of flash cards increases the memorisation to a mark. This is the major benefits of using flash cards, however the drawback is the child may not  generalise / relate flash cards to real objects especially in developing children.
