Rolling over is one of the important developmental milestone, which is your baby’s first step towards mobility. Most of the babies start to roll around their 3-5month, once they achieve head and neck control.
As rolling development takes place from supine (front) to prone (back), prone (back) to supine (front) or a complete roll with side lying as an initial transition position.
Treatment suggestions for facilitating rolling over if your baby is not achieved at the expected age
# Place the child on his back, on his side or on his stomach on a blanket. Hold each end of the blanket and suspend the child in the blanket just off the ground. Tip the child gently from side to side, waiting for him to complete his roll over. If he cannot do this himself, you can roll him in the blanket until he picks up the rolling motion.
# Child in supine position, you bend one hip and knee well over to the opposite side and wait for him to complete the roll over.
# Bring one of his arms over to the opposite side with the palm of his hand towards him and reaching out to your face, or to a toy he likes on the opposite side. Offer him a toy to encourage his independent rolling from side lying and then from supine.
# Tummy time is very essential which helps strengthen his head , neck and shoulder muscles and boost motor skills.
